President’s Letter – March 2017

This month our lunch speaker on March 15th, is John Dribus, who will be talking about; Recent Significant Global Deepwater Discoveries and the Look Forward for Deep Water Exploration. This should be a great talk and I hope you all can make it!

We have a lot of great events coming up in the next few months!

Our second annual Wine and Rock’s talk will be on March 23rd at 6:00pm at the Lafayette Science Museum. Our own Terri Bannister will be discussing the wine and geology of Essex County Ontario, Canada. Tickets can be purchased through our website.

We will be holding a field trip through the Atchafalaya Basin, led by Coerte Voorhies Jr. on April 1st. Tickets can be purchased through our website.

Our Annual Crawfish Boil will be held on April 29th from 12-2pm at the UL Alumni Center. Details to follow.

I received a rather curious email recently regarding a wayward golf ball. A gentleman in Herefordshire, England, contacted me after golfing at Kington Golf Course and had discovered a Lafayette Geological Society golf ball in the rough! I’m not sure who has a wicked enough drive to knock it all the way across the pond but if anyone has any clues to this mystery we’d love to hear it.

See you at the luncheon,

Samantha Leone
