President’s Column – December 2018

Dear All,
This month our luncheon will be joined with SWLGS on Tuesday December 11th. We are very lucky to have the 2018 Society of Exploration Geophysicists Honorary Lecturer to North America, Christine Krohn, give a talk on “the complexity just below our feet and the implications for the fidelity of land seismic data”.

We will continue to have graduate students present posters during the luncheon. This week Katie Fearn will present a field study on the Upper Cretaceous Lake Rosemound Field (West Feliciana Parish, LA). Victoria Chevrot will have present her research on outcrop-based sweet spot characterization in the Eagle Ford Formation (Val Verde County, TX). You can find detailed abstracts on pages 12-13 of this bulletin.

Finally, I would like to bring your attention to a short course organized by the UL Lafayette AAPG student chapter. Tad Smith (retired from Apache) will be giving a shortcourse on Petrophysics and Seismic Rock Properties on Friday, January 18th. The shortcourse is open to anybody, if you would like to register, please see pages 19-20 of this bulletin for more information.

My best,

Raphael_Sig
